Do you know what is below the foot path before you start digging? 600 people are injured every year due to underground cables being damaged during excavation work on the highway. Many more are often injured through water and gas pipes, these damages often incur high repair charges and loss of work.

Our cable avoidance courses are set out to make candidates aware of the dangers involved when excavating footpaths, highways and private land. Candidates will receive the correct training in the use of locating equipment so they know exactly how to safely locate and avoid most underground services. This training can be carried out onsite UKWIDE where your employee's can be trained using your specific equipment for example any of the following Radio detection, CAT and Genny, RD4000, C-scope Cat and Transmitter or Koletric series locators.

The training is a mix of theory and practical where candidates will get to use the equipment and locate services cut your strike rates and keep your employee's safe.

Course Content

Our UKwide Onsite Cable Avoidance training (Cat and Genny)  training offers clients the cost effective training of upto to 10 persons per course. The flexibilty of the taining to be tailored to your employees working with specific types or manufacture of Cable / Pipe location equipment (note this must be discussed at time of booking). Our professional Underground Cable avoidance trainers attend your site reducing the cost and distruption to your workforce. 
 

Competence training in the use of cable locators is widely recognised as one of the key steps to reducing cable strikes. Delegates will receive the correct training so they know exactly how to locate and avoid most underground services.
Training can be carried out on a Cat & Genny or RD4000 equipment.

By the end of this course delegates will:

  • Understand the reasons for using locators
  • Know simple ways to locate street lighting cables
  • Know the location of bends, junctions and service connections
  • Know how to identify utilities
  • Know how to locate through concrete reinforcing and depth measures

Any person working on the roads, people who are setting out before a build, surveyors and any person excavating areas should be trained in the correct use of cable locators.
