IOSH Managing Safely Training Course

Health and Safety Training is becoming an ever more important consideration for businesses of all sizes.The Institute of Occupation Safety and Health (IOSH) have developed training courses to improve workplace safety by providing workers with the knowledge required to ensure that their actions contribute to health and safety and that individual responsibilities are clearly understood.

At the end of our IOSH Managing Safely course, you will need to carry out the following:

  • A practical assessment of your workplace
  • A 20 minute multi-format question exam

 

Once you've completed these, you will gain your IOSH accredited Managing Safely Certificate (issue aprox 3 weeks).

The right training is essential to getting health and safety at work right.

The aim of IOSH training is to ensure that employers and employees have a basic understanding of general health and safety requirements and to encourage safe working practices and habits.

This course has been developed to improve workplace safety by providing workers with the knowledge required to ensure that their actions contribute to health and safety and that individual responsibilities are clearly understood.

During the course delegates will learn the following:

  • Introducing Working Safely
  • Defining Hazards & Risk
  • Identifying Common Hazards
  • Improving Safety Performance
  • Protecting our Environment

 

At the end of the course there is a short assessment to test delegates understanding using multi- format questions and a hazard spotting exercise. On successful completion of the course delegates will receive an IOSH Working Safely certificate.

Course Objectives:

Everyone at work should have an understanding of why they must 'work safely'- this course offers exactly that. It focuses on why health and safety is important, and how individuals can make a real difference to the wellbeing of themselves and others through changing their behaviour.


Who Should Attend?

This course is appropriate for all workers, and is ideal for use as part of an overall induction package. The course is for employees from an industry sector who have no managerial or supervisory responsibilities.

Course Content

This course has been developed to give delegates an insight into health and safety practices, learning about their legal responsibilities to themselves, their employer and others, according to current legislation.

The IOSH Managing Safely Training Course is an engaging, interactive and practical Health & Safety course. On completing the course and passing the short examination at the end of the course, managers, directors, supervisors, business owners whomever takes this course will be fully up to speed on their responsibilities to themselves their staff, their customers and the public at large. They will be in a position to fulfil all their obligations and more. They shall be in a position to make quick, effective and correct decisions no matter what situation confronts them in the workplace.

This course is a real confidence booster and educator. Unlike other courses this course is not industry specific it applies to every industry: Chemical, Industrial, Biomechanical, Construction, Pharmaceutical, Logistics, Engineering, Medical, Health & Beauty, Management, Retail, Manufacturing, Agriculture, Transport, Oil & Gas, Energy 

There are 8 modules to cover in the IOSH Managing safely course

  • Module 1: Introducing Managing Safely
  • Module 2: Assessing risks
  • Module 3: Controlling risks
  • Module 4: Understanding your responsibilities
  • Module 5: Identifying hazards
  • Module 6: Investigating accidents and incidents
  • Module 7: Measuring performance
  • Module 8: Protecting our environment

 

At the end of the course delegates are required to sit an assessment and complete a small project; both contribute towards the final pass mark.

Course Objectives:

The flexible new high impact programme covers all the main health and safety issues, and includes a session tackling the environment too.

On sucessful completion of the course candidates should be able to :-

  • Write your companies health and safety policy
  • Be able to apply your own management skills and techniques to your health and safety policy and establish a best practice
  • Be in a position to develop an effective health and safety strategy and execute and implement it; action plan
  • Be able to see, recognise and foresee hazards; carry out rick assessments at the workplace or on new projects; brief staff about any risks
  • Be able to set control measures on any risks recognised and defuse
  • Ergonomic risk management
  • Be able to brief staff and undertake or oversee their training (H&S)
  • Investigate an accident or incident involving injury or damage to determine the causes and take appropriate actions.
