The International Powered Access Federation, IPAF developed their courses to promote the correct, safe and effective use of powered access. IPAF are the UK’s most established access platform training provider and have been in operation since 1983. The law requires employees to be properly training on the equipment they use at work. The PAL card offers proof that employees have been trained to work at height safely.

Course Content

IPAF training provides delegates with an understanding of the need for accident prevention, safe operational procedures, emergency descent operations and the responsibilities of the employers and employees. The course covers the main aims of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and associated regulations.

The following is covered during the course:

  • MEWP Categories
  • Structural parts
  • Regulations; HASAWA 1974, PUWER 1998, LOLER 1998 WAHR 2005
  • Pre-use inspection / handover
  • Safe operating methods and hazards
