It will help site managers, agents and supervisors to manage health and safety on site in accordance with current legal provisions, and withini the context of their management or supervisory role.

Course Content

The course covers:

  • All relevant legislation and other aspects which affect safe working the building, construction and civil engineering industries
  • Highlights the need for risk asessment in the workplace
  • Implementing necessary control measures
  • Successful communication to sustain a health and safety culture amongst the workforce

It will help site managers, agents and supervisors to:

  • Manage health and safety on site in accordance with current legal provisions, and within the context of their management of supervisory role
  • Develop an understanding of responsibilities and accountability for site health, safety and welfare
  • Recognise a safe site is efficient, economical and productive

Delegates will be required to complete 3 core exercises, a case study and an end of course examination. On successful completion of the course, delegates will receive a Construction Skills Certificate that is valid for 5 years.

Course Content

The aims of this course are to:

  • Improve a awareness of recent developments in construction, legislation and health, safety, welfare and environmental issues
  • Identify measures that will assist the practical implementation of responsibilities established by new legislation and new working practices

At the end of the course delegates will be:

  • Aware of and able to implement all updated health, safety, welfare and environmental legislation which affects them in their role as a manager
  • Aware of and able to implement new guidance and industry best practice
  • More aware of their duties and responsibilities with regards to health, safety, welfare and the environment

Delegates will be required to complete a multiple- choice assessment. On passing the assessment, they will receive a Construction Skills Certificate that is valid for 5 years.

Who Should Attend?

Anyone who has previously attended and passed the 5 day SMSTS course and can provide proof of attendance.
